The Central Coast Heart has announced their final selections for the Under 20s team to compete in the inaugural NSW Premier League Netball competition commencing in 2016.
An impressive number of athletes applied to trial on Sunday 23rd August, before a selection committee that included former Australian Diamond and Central Coast local Alison Broadbent, emerging elite coach Amber Cross and former NSW Swift player Nerida Stewart who has been appointed Head Coach of the Central Coast Heart’s Under 20 team.
“The calibre of athletes who trialled was impressive and it was great to see a solid contingent of local talent”, said Nerida.
Ten players were chosen from a field of more than 30 athletes. The Central Coast Heart U20 team comprises:
Bronte Doorn (Member of the 17/U NSW State Development Squad for 2015)
Demi Evans (Member of the 17/U NSW State Team for 2015 and current NSW Institute of Sport Netball Scholarship holder)
Five members of the U20s team are currently participating in the Central Coast Academy of Sport program.
In addition, five junior athletes were selected in to a development squad who will have opportunities to train with the team and attend Premier League matches. The Squad members include Madalyn Wild, Jasmine Rodwell, Hannah Stewart, Abbey Hackmann and Jacinta Clark. Four of these five girls are also currently participating in the Central Coast Academy of Sport program.
